Intelligent Retail EPoS Software

If you're a modern retailer then you probably know all about EPoS Software - it's the software which runs your shop till!

Modern EPoS (Electronic Point of Sale) systems utilise a moderately specified personal computer system which runs an operating system and specialist EPoS software which not only runs the shop till but allows trading via multiple online selling channels such as Google Products, Ebay and Amazon.

How do modern EPoS software systems help?

Modern, intelligently designed EPoS software systems use a centrallised stock control system tied into a centrallised database of products. This approach, as used by Intelligent Retail means that once product data is in the system it can be taken to multiple online selling channels such as an ecommerce website, Ebay, Amazon and many other websites with a simple 'drag and drop' function - saving the retailer time and effort. Because the whole system is based around a single stock tree, products can only be sold once across multiple channels, avoiding oversell problems and the retailer can accurately control stock levels in-store. What's more, because a centrallised stock system is used, all sales can be brought back to the shop till for 'pick, pack and despatch', again saving the retailer time as multiple systems do not have to be checked for sales.

Another advantage of this type of multichannel EPoS software is that it gives the opportunity to retailers of importing a ready-made database of products. This idea, named by Intelligent Retail as the 'black box' means that other retailers (who have sold these products previously) put in product images and descriptions through the EPoS software and then subsequent retailers have access to this data. This gives the opportunity to simply scan a barcode and have the system automatically fill in all the details for a product, which is a great timesaver, especially for retailers who stock thousands of products.

Which ever way you look at it, modern EPoS sofware is a huge timesaver for independant retailers as it takes away a lot of the effort involved in running a retail business across multiple selling channels.
